In short

PassCivic collects no personal data. There is no account, no registration, no advertising and no tracking. All questions are bundled in the app and work offline.

What stays on your device

Your study progress, mistake book, statistics, chosen federal state and language setting are stored only in your device's local storage. They never leave the device. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data deletes them permanently.

When the app goes online at all

1. Google Play Billing — only when you view, buy or restore a Premium subscription. The purchase is handled entirely by Google; we receive no payment details.
2. Configuration fetch from our server hq.bnj.app, sending a randomly generated, app-local device identifier (not the advertising ID, not linked to any person), the app version, the interface language and the platform name. Purpose: load configuration and optional announcements and count active installations. This identifier is not shared with third parties and is never used for advertising or profiling. You can reset it at any time by clearing the app's data or reinstalling.

What we do not do

No analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, no crash-reporting SDK, no advertising ID, no access to camera, location, contacts, photos or files. The app requests no permissions other than internet access.

Legal basis and retention

Processing of the technical data above is based on our legitimate interest in providing a working, up-to-date service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Configuration records are aggregated and kept for at most 12 months.

Your rights

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Because we store no personal data we cannot identify you; deletion is achieved completely by uninstalling the app or clearing its data. See also our data removal page.

Children

The app is aimed at adults preparing for the German naturalisation test. No data from children is collected.
